Has anyone used PPG laquer duracyrl? good or bad? or what would be best for first time paint job. This is for a 70 chevelle and i want to use a factory like dark blue with ss stripes. I'm not sure what the paint code is but i have seen it on other chevelle and i think it's a factory dark blue of some sort. If anyone knows the name of this color that would be cool. Also i will be painting on the side of my house and would like to use the appropriate safty equipment. Can you use a a charchoal respirator for the entire PPG line. I know your suppost to use fresh air supply but I have seen it done without.
Thanks
John

i've been using the deltron 2000 system for my basecoat with my first paint job. it went on beautifully, i only had problem with runs in my clearcoat. i also used a charcol respirator, i figure that if you can't smell the paint then the respirator is good enough.

My paint distribution store sells 3M resperators in a bag (organic filters) for 22 bucks.. Why take the chance with charcol filters when you can use something better??

John,
The dark blue for 1970 was Fathom Blue. I believe the code was #28
