Has anyone shaved off the side drip molding from above their windows and maybe done away with the handles too. If so and you have good pictures of this i would like to see them hopely of a '69 Chevelle, also i would like to hear some opinions on whether or not you like the look of the shaved drip molding.
Thanks

I wouldn't do it. The problem with shaving the drip mouldings, is that the water on the roof now runs into the car when the window is down. Late model cars that don't have drip rails have contours in the roof that act as a barrier to prevent the water runoff to the edge. Also, I think the door handle shaving should be reserved for the low rider types. I considered replacing the handles with the late model recessed type, now I'm glad I didn't. Think long and hard about how much it will require to go back if you don't like them later.

If not shaved door handles what about a handle from lets say a vette. It sat on top of the door sill instead of on the side. It will take alot of work but at least you have a clean door and no need for the solenoid non-sense of the keyless entry. just a suggestion, good luck…

Although I haven't done it, I think shaved drip rails would probably look good. But, if the car is driven a lot and sees rain, I would not do it unless you want a wet interior every time you open the door in the rain. I have shaved the door handles, radio antenna, and all of the side trim off of my 68 Elky though. I don't have any pictures yet, but plan on posting some in the showroom in a month or two when I get it done. I personally like the look of shaved door handles, but it is quite a bit of work to do it.

How much rain you guys drive in? I am thinking about shaving mine. I don't imagine rain being too much of a problem. It might get a little wet but shouldn't be that bad.
Shaving the handles isn't that bad either. Got to make some brackets to mount the solenoid. Then just bondo up where the handle was. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif Ok, you can just bend some metal by hand and get it pretty close, or find a scrap door and cut out a patch panel from just before the handle.
