Hey Guys, I cant work on my car cause my MIG welder stopped working, Its a Century 117-047, The welder turns on, but doesnt feed wire at all, if I turn it on, it hums as usually, when I press the trigger, it makes a louder humming, doesnt feed wire at all, and sometimes "flips the breaker switch"
I think it could be a faulty trigger switch or a bad drive motor, dont really know??? any ideas would be appreciated.. heres what it looks like inside:

is the wire bound up inside the machine or inside the gun? Cooling fan inside the machine not working? Remove the wire from the machine and see if the trigger works with no wire in it, that is see if the motor turns with no spool on it. Could be an interlock or just some mechanical binding. I dont know how good a machine that is but when I had a cheaper model I frequently had wire jams in the feed rollers or in the gun.

Same thing happened to my Century. Burned up the capacitor. I ordered a new one one along with some other small parts. The new capacitor design is vastly improved and my welder works much better now. The phone # for service was inside the welder. I installed the new parts myself W/O problems. It was ~ $125 total for parts.

i had a problem sort of like that. i was using the large gauge wire and when i went to the smaller gauge i forgot to turn the drive wheel around so it would drive the smaller gauge wire.

thanks Jimmy, might do that if all else fails..
I cleaned the tip, messed around with the wire, still didnt work, so I took all the wire out of the machine, and still same problem, the drive motor for "feeding the wire" still doesnt work, havent taken apart the gun, to check the trigger... maybe my next step??? the MIG still hums as normal, and fan works thats it http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif
