Well I am officially confused. I thought I was doing well with a recent trade I made for a 12 bolt out of a 68 cutlass. Someone in another thread told me that the BOP 12 bolt is different(in a bad way) than the chevy 12 bolt. By bad, I mean not as strong and different internal parts. Is this all true?

Don't get to bummed to quick, someone over the years may have put a Chevy 12 in an Olds or even the factory has been know to install Chevy 12's in BOP cars in Canada. If the rearend cover has the rib that runs across it with the bend like the early chevy 10 bolts it is a Chevy 12, the BOP have a rounder cover that is smooth.

they do cost more to rebuild

but, they don't have the c clips - which is good
and they are pretty rugged - also good
and those ten bolts they use are much bigger than the ones they use on a chevy
these rears are not as bad as people make them out to be in my opinion
they are just not twelve bolts
now here I have no clue but how many bolts hold on the ring gear in a nine inch ford rear
