Hi Guys-
I have a 1972 Chevelle SS (402) car. The Vin Starts out with 1D37U2Bxxxxxx. Can someone decode the cowl tag for me? It reads this:
ST 72 13637 B 005414 BDY
TR 704 A51 26 26 PNT
Z15
06D 05091
Any help would be great! This is the best Chevelle site I've ever seen. Keep up the good work!!

Thanks Steve. Why I was wondering this information is for 2 reasons. the TR 704 number. Does this mean it came with the black elk vinyl seats, not cloth, correct? And people have questioned why Z15 was on the cowl tag. Was it possible to have the Z15 on a cowl tag? Also, what does ASTRO mean, as you mentioned it in bucket seat type. This car is an original car to the best of my knowledge of knowing it's history from 1983-2005. Let me know! Thanks for the quick reply. -Derek

Astro is just an adjective Chevy used to descibe the seat style. Look in a Chevelle brochure (showing buckets) and you will see what an astro type seat looks like.
You must have the only US built 69-72 Chevelle with Z15 on the body tag? I don't know of anyone else having such a thing. It was common for Cars built in Canada to show options but not on the US built cars.
Can you post a image of that tag, would like to see it.
The tag is not a repro is it??
