Okay I finally have reached the rebuild stage. I have a 72 chevelle. It's going through some major surgery in 7 wks. WooHoo! L/R floor pans and braces, L/R rear seat pans, L/R floor to firewall exts, L/R rear quarters, inner & outter wheelhouse, deck filler, & trunk floor & braces. The car is 90% gutted, with a few more things to do in the remaining time. My plan is to do as much of the labor as possible. So my first question... Is any prep needed before the sheet metal is tacked on? Or should that be taken care of when the car is primed and painted? The sheet metal is from Goodmark and coated black, minus the trunk floors and firewall ext, which are bare metal. This isn't a frame off resto.

Just remember to tell whoever is welding it together to use zinc chromate type weld thru primer. This will inhibit rust in the welds

Hey, I checked the pricing on powder coating and decided why not throw the floor pans and trunk pans in with everything else? Does the weld type still apply smile.gif ???
