Hey Guys!
Does anyone have an idea on where I can get rivets that closely resemble what was used by the factory to attach the TCS relay to the firewall harness gutter on a '70 El Camino? Pop rivets are more of a last resort. I believe the type of rivet I'm looking for is called a "truss head". I'm sure it requires a special tool as well...
Basically, I'm looking for alternatives that look as stock as possible, without to much time and effort. Any ideas come to mind?

Thanks!
Alan

Try your local Lowes. I found similar head sized aluminum nuts that have a bolt that screws into them. I found it in the metal drawers at my local Lowes. I just didn't use the bolts, I cut them down a bit and flattened out the back side that the bolt screws into. It looks a little nasty inside the wire gutter but looks almost original on the outside.

Thanks Ed,
I'll look into that and fish through all the aluminum fastener drawers while I'm there...

Mounting screws......... on my 70 I used 10-32 screws.first mount screws in die grinder go to your grinder face off the front untill it is very thin like a rivet.next mic. the outside grind off the edge and polish with scotch brite cut to the correct length, put the mess up on the gutter use a tooth pick put some loc tite on the threads finger tight, thats it . mine has been on for ten years, you can practice and make some nice fake rivets. Also hit with clear laquer befor you mount them. If you see a 70 SS454 M22 ElCamino trip black look at my fake rivets .be at Indy this weekend Map Grove next week I hope this is a little help Bob 70 SS454 M22 Elky org. owner / Red SS454 Sta. Wagon
