How can I tell if the windshield in my car is the original or a replacement? Anyone know what the original emblem/codes should say?

it should say LOF. but it may have been replaced with original type glass.if its the original w/s,its gotta be fadeing and in need of replacement. the easiest way to find out if its been replaced is to look at the outer edge of the glass.you can usually tell if someones been in there before.also,if its urethaned in its been replaced for sure.

If it's the original, you should see what looks like a tan to rust colored (could be rust staining) fabric strip between the seal and the inner glass surface.

Hey guys is there any date codeing on the glass? I remember when I had a '64 Vette, they did it to them.

Muscle Car Review or Auto Restorer Magazine did an article on glass date codes a few years ago. On the trademark there should be 2 letters and possibly a number. For a 1970, one letter will be "T". The second letter is the month. Months are as follows:
Jan......N
Feb......X
Mar......L
Apr......G
May......J
June.....I
July.....U
Aug......T
Sept.....A
Oct......Y
Nov......C
Dec......V (not sure, will have
to look up Dec. code)
I don't remember if if the month or the year is first in the letter sequence. The number (if listed), will be the day of the month. From this info you will be able to positively identify an original glass unless someone has allready restored the car and installed a newly date coded glass.
Hope this helps. E-mail if you need more info. Good Luck.
