I was wanting to install a TKO in my 66.
Has anyone tryed doing the tunnel surgery and fabing the new cover for tunnnel without actually purchasing the trans till a later date, say after the car comes out of the body shop?
Just wondering if this could be done....

Cut the entire tunnel from the bulkhead to where the floor flattens out under the seat. Then cut from the falt on the driver pan to the flat on the passenger pan. That will be enough....many will say you don't need to but to get the pinion angle correct, you do. I used a 48X36 peice of 18ga to make a new tunnel.

ouch, just did the cut last night, test mounted the tranny tonight in my 66. I can send pics of the hole and measurements if you want. just email me. I have not started to make the cover yet since I don't have the offset shifter.
