What do you guys think? Do I repair dents and possibly have paint shade mismatch or have perfect paint with dents? I now have two small dents in my rear qtr panel, right above the rear wheel on the crease. Not too big, but you can't help but see them. Other than that the body is perfect so they bug me. Besides I can't stand everyone saying, "too bad about the dents", "what a shame".
So I want it repaired. The issue is matching the paint/shade. I've contacted a previous owner who has the details on the current paint job and am waiting the hear from him. I also have manufacturer paint codes, and the body shop says in the worst case they have a machine that measures light reflection on the paint that helps color matching. How hard/easy is it to match paint?
The current color is Royal Plum, and is darker than in my signature photo. So what do you think?

Have you looked into Paintless Dent Removal ?

Depending on the dents they can work them out without hurting the paint.

Bill,
Is that technique or a company?

If they are small dents and the paint isn't broken, try the Dent Wizard or Dent King, whatever is in your area.Check with local dealers in your area who they use. Most dealerships use these guys to repair new cars damaged in shipping.Find out who the really good guys are, some of these guys are amazing. It a special technique. I saw them demo the technique/tools at a car show last year. As Mike said, check some of the local car dealerships and they should be able to give you the name of the local person.
Check the bodyshop section of your yellow pages, they might have an ad listed.

Also, go into www.goggle.com (http://www.goggle.com) and put PAINTLESS into the shearch box.

Good luck,

If you have the paintcode you shouldnt worry about paint mismatch. Paint does have variables, GM's med red garnet metallic has like 11
But as long as you have code you can do spray outs to find the CORRECT shade. It sounds like those dents are in the middle of the panel, blending would only be on the quarter. If you get the new paint close enough, they just blend it on the quarter and any mismatch is masked, the human eye cant see the different colors.

Some colors are a bit@% to match. One we have trouble with and am sure so does everyone else is GM's pewter graemlins/angry.gif We once spent 2 days mixing and matching a teal for a ford truck. Some colors you think that will be a snap to paint end up a pain in arse and the ones that look tough always butt match. To me dark blues are pretty easy to match which that royal plum is right?? Its also a solid color or very light metallic if I remember right, so that will aid in matching.
