or bad gas?? I just took my car out after having her in storage for a couple years. I went through her, changed all the fluids and filters, but the fuel has been in the tank for a couple years, I had put in a healthy dose of Sta-Bil additive before storage. The problem I'm experiencing is a high speed miss, above 3000 rpm's she starts to sputter, could it be the old gas?? Or maybe the bronze gear on my distributor. The gear has been on for @ 8000 miles, think she's had it? I did pull a couple spark plugs, they looked ok. It starts and idles nicely. Just looking for ideas, Thanks! Btw, it's a 70 Chevelle 396 with a 750cfm Edelbrock Carb :)

What you need to do is pull the gas out of your tank-gas quality is bad enough and several years with sta-bil doesnt help. Drain 50% and add freash gas. The bronze gear doesn't have anything to do with the gas issue. Personally-I use a steel gear-

Most of todays gas is good for a couple of years before it goes bad unless its been sitting in the heat. The car probably needs a good run and some fresh fuel and it will be fine. Why the bronze gear? Must be a roller cam?

No roller cam, the guy that I had rebuild the distributor put it on there, I've been skeptical of it ever since. I might just replace it for peace of mind. Thanks for the help!
