Hey cats. I'd like to put some wider meats on the back of my '65 Malibu. I've got Coker Redlines 205/75/14's on it now(don't know rim width..6"?) and will stick with the redline style...not sure if I'm sticking with Coker though. I've been a "Blue-Oval" owner for a while so I know the bolt and backspacing on them, but I'm new to the Bow-Tie family.

What is my bolt patter/count and backspacing for this car?

How "fat" (rim width and tire specs) can I go in the back without problems at stock height in the rear?

What brands do y'all like in the Redlines?

Is there a gallery of early Chevelles that you can recommend that I can get some rim ideas for?

I`m guessing you want a 15" wheel since you plan to run redlines. I don`t know anythang about those tires but I can tell you that all chevelles, and most other Gm cars, use a 5 on 4.75 lug pattern. You can run a 275/60/15 on a 15x8 wheel with 5" of backspacing. My 65 has 275/60`s on a 15x8 wheel but it only has 4.5" backspacing and whoever installed them trimmed the whell well lip and part of the wheel house to get them to fit. With a 5" backspace it should clear with just the wheel lip trim.

Thanks for the info. I do plan to go with 15" rims. I'd like to put 8" on the back I'm just leary of using different size tires as this is my daily driver. It'd be nice to be able to rotate tires to prolong them. Would 8" rims be too much for the front? How fat can I go with 7" rims?

Personally I think 8" wheels are too big for the front. They might clear but I think they look a little weird. You can go with 15x7`s front and rear and run a 235-60-15 front and rear so you can rotate them. I`m pretty sure thats the biggest that will fit front to back but I could be wrong. Stock GM 15x7 rally wheels will allow the 235`s all around. They have a 4.5" backspacing. My neighbor had this set up on his old 65 chevelle. You could also have some steelies made from Stockton wheel or any place that makes custom steel wheels and set it up to use the stock SS hub cap. It would make your car a sleeper.

I think I've settled on 7" rims all the way around. Also, I've found the tires I want! Diamondback Classics BLUE LINE! The entire car theme is Black and Blue! I didn't even know they made bluelines! Does anyone else?
