Im looking at a 65 malibu SS to buy, but it will need quarter panels. I've done plenty of searches but it looks like you cant get much in the way of replacement panels. I've seen skins offered but I would prefer to have a full quarter. Is the market as bare as it looks for replacement metal for the 64-65's? doors look usable as does the deck lid, hood and fenders.(they need lower patching, but I can do that with flat stock)thanks guys.

your about right the aftermarket body panels are, as far as I could find non existent, there are patch panels and quarter skins but no full quarters or doors, there are patch panels for the front fenders for behind the wheel, other than that I have been able to find just about everything else thru resto shops, ground up and year one etc..there are also allot of used parts around. I am looking for a hood and trunk lid myself, let me know if I can help..Ed

thanks Ed. Thats what I was afraid of. I'm not worried about front fender patches. I've had to make my own for the 69 because the aftermarket patches I bought were junk! I really want a 64/65 but not sure about this one because of the quarter panels. I will look at it again thursday and see if quarter patches will work.

Ed, summed it up , regarding panels for 64/65's
In the last 5 years I have seen 5 ht 1/4s and a pair for Conv... All in the OH my God Price range.. Goodmark door Skins are OK the inner and outter wheel house are GREAT.. theres are no trunk drop off filler panels and the Painted 1/4 skins can be used buy require attention !

Right now there are 64 RR and RR full quarters for sale, I think they will interchange with 65. Price is about 175 each, I'm passing because all I need are the areas around the wheel well and shipping to my location is about $100 each. I have seen repros in the resto catalogs but don't know about price, quality or fit.

I don't know of any good options in current replacement panels. If you can get buy with patch pannels that is the best option. I have been told that quality full qtrs (like GM produced) are in the works but have yet to see any yet. I will be in line to get a set if they are ever produced!! I looked for NOS but they are very high and very hard to find :( . I bought my convertible in Arizona and was very happy with the sheet metal condition, maybe try finding some qtrs in those (dryer) states.
