How did I lose power to the IGN terminal on my fuseblock. I was in the process of installing a new electronic distributor and I was testing the IGN terminal to make sure it has 12 volts. I first tested it with a hot light....I turned the key to the run position and nothing. I stuck the light in the terminal and tried to crank it over and got nothing. Along with this, neither my directional signals or my guage fuses are hot and none of them are blown. Also, I tried testing the Pink wire that comes off of the ignition switch and that will not become hot, even when I try all the different key positions. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks

Usually a fuse or a dirty fuse clip. Tried popping in a new fuse?

Do you have power at the BAT terminal at the fuse box? If the entire fuse box has no power you may have blown the fusible link. First check for power at the horn relay. There is a 16g fusable link off the horn relay that feeds the fuse box, IGN switch and dash area. It may have been weakened from your other electrical problems and now just quit.

Yes, i have power at the fuse block. my lighter and hazards fuses are constantly hot as they should be and the acc terminal is hot when the key is turned on. Only the IGN, directional/backup, and gauges fuses do not work. Also, the pink wire comming off the ignition switch will not get hot, even if I turn the key through all the positions. have no idea why it would have suddenly stopped working.

After some searching, I found a wire by my fuse block that was just hanging there. It is on the engine side. The wire is a tan or orangish color that is tied in with the resistor wire on the bulkhead. One end is connected to the bulkhead as I stated, but the other end has a male connector on it, but it was just hanging behind my brake booster. It the connector looked crisp like it had been burnt by a short or something. I am assuming this is some sore of main power wire because it is about 12 guage, and I'm also assuming that this is why I do not have any power to the IGN terminal and 3 fuses.
Does anybody know what this wire is supposed to connect to...I went to look for a wiring diagram, but cannot find one.
Thanks

Ok, I've got the power to the fuses figured out...through all my troubles with grounded wires etc....the pink wire became hot and melted some of the switch. And when it melted it ruined some of the internal connections.

Glad you figured it out. When you have a big short and melted wires and switches usually there is more than one area that needs attention. You may want to check if the 16g fusible link off the horn relay is still there. It feeds the IGN switch and the fuse box. Someone may have replaced it with regular wire. That one should have burnt first before the 14g fusible link at the battery.
