: 74 LaGuna itch I got, comments?
Hi gang, Im a moderator over at Team Camaro but Ive got the itch to buy a 74 Laguna S3 just like one I had in the 70's. What are some of your impressions of this model and year? I have not followed them as much as I follow the camaros and I know they have gone skyhigh in value and demand.
How are the LaGuna's doing in that regard? Anyone have one, any certain areas I should look out for?
Glad to hear any input you might have.
Cheers.

Derek69SS Jul 5th, 05, 5:04 PM They're cool and still pretty cheap, but good luck finding one in MN that's not a rusted turd.... Definitely spend the money on a solid southern one, because body parts aren't available for them like the 64-72 Chevelles.
MikeJ Jul 5th, 05, 5:44 PM yep - they're cool
GRN69CHV Jul 5th, 05, 6:09 PM I had a black / maroon gut '74 c/w Swivel seats. THose cars were nice. Wouldn't mind one either. Maybe do the 17" wheel route and a 502 to move it down the road would be kool.
thunderstruck507 Jul 5th, 05, 7:19 PM Not a fan
YenkoChevelle69 Jul 5th, 05, 10:22 PM I think that as the supply of 64-72 cars dwindles, the 73-77 cars will become more popular. I'm seeing more and more disco nova's lately, so it's only a matter of time until the Chevelles do the same thing.
Mali Blu Jul 5th, 05, 11:03 PM Weird looking ride, but I think it would be cool.
Donnie1 Jul 6th, 05, 12:31 AM that was my first car in 1982
it was white with maroon strips
454
turbo 400
Swivel buckets
console
power moon roof. paid $900 for it. had it for two months and traded it for a Red Black strip 70 SS 396 Chevelle.
Here's a picture from the brochure that I doctored (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/Cam/74ChevelleLagunaTypeS3454.jpg). I added the correct Tiger Paw GR70-15 radials, exhaust tips and 454 badges.
novaderrik Jul 7th, 05, 3:17 AM there used to be a pile of those Lagunas in the junkyard a few miles from me, but a few years ago they got bought up- along with every other fairly solid rwd Gm car- to be made into stock cars.
if ya get one, Jim, you gotta take me for a ride. i like the 74 Chevelles, and the Lagunas are just weird enough to be cool. except the 75 and 76 4 door Lagunas- never did understand the logic in those.
mr 4 speed Jul 7th, 05, 10:31 AM I like those Laguna's...cool cars IMHO
SS_Sean Jul 7th, 05, 12:24 PM Get some powder for that itch. Laguna's are hidious looking cars in my opinion. Every time I see them I think of a younger John Travolta, the Bee Gee's, and velour long colared shirts. I don't think there will ever be a mass market for them. There is a small following of the Lagunas, kind of like the G-body Malibu's, only less cool. ;)
1966_L78 Jul 7th, 05, 12:43 PM I think they are kind cool, but I'd hate to have to find any parts for one...
I used to have a 73 (just a regular Chevelle, not Laguna). It was a fun beater...
pauly383 Jul 7th, 05, 1:42 PM 75-76 Were the prettiest , I love the slant nose , kinda Camaro-ish .
Were a little over 9100 made in 75-76 .
Mine wasn't an AZ car , way rusted floors , and I drove it daily until it died when I was 19 . I should of kept it , people are replacing more sheetmetal and restoring worse now . Mine was maroon with white bench seat interior , gauges , and a 350/350/10 bolt . Learned all about actually working on cars with that Laguna

A guy I work with has a 74 laguna 454 car just like that, but no sunrof if I remember. BIG motor (468+) 600+hp. goes quick. I used to lust after one, but now I think they look butt. We call it the SS-Laguna. His car IS a nice example of the era, though.
