What did you use to seal the cover on the smuggler's box? I took off the Sprint's cover a while back because it was rattling so bad, and all the (whatever was on there before) was dried up and brittle, and good chunks of it were gone. I'm guessing I don't want anything too permanent, but it needs to seal well and hold up to weather...

I used latex caulking which has worked well. I chose this because it can be painted; silicone seal does not hold paint very well.If there is no need to paint over it, then the transparent silicone might be a good choice.

For the sealing of this box, I like to use a product by 3M called all around auto body sealer. It really works well and it can be painted without a problem. It's availible from most auto-paint stores for about $6 or $7 a tube.

I used that grey tape sealant stuff that comes in a big coil. Used on metal building roofs. Same stuff I sealed around my kick panel vents with. Zero leaks from either.
