I have been fighting fan belt throwing for 3 years! I have found the solution. I have a Fast Times Motorworks 540 c.i., dyno 600 hp. I put March pulleys on it. Stock size, except for the crank, which is a 7" March underdrive, the largest available. No overheating problems now either, 4 core stock radiator, and a Jegs cast iron water pump. The car runs around 180 degrees on a hot day of about 80 degrees. The belts kept coming off even when I changed all the pulleys and water pump, so I went to a thin belt (the thinnest I could find), and the belt throwing problem was gone. My alignment is marginal, not perfect either. Try the thin belt, it will sit in the pulley deep, and your problem will disappear, it did for me, and I was ready to give up.
