What would make the coil contact under my dist.cap get worn down to the plastic with not even 100 miles on the cap? I have a MSD billit dist,SS coil and a 6al box.
Thanx for any help. This is starting to get old quick..............

Is the rotor seated properly on the advance mechanism? If not it may be riding too high.

The rotor is on there straight and tight.MSD has a circle and square under there rotors so it will only seat one way. However ,the tang on the rotor is suppose to contact the coil contact on the cap yes?

The center 'tang'? If so yes, it's sorta spring loaded to keep it in contact with the button on the bottom of the coil.

Most rotors are as you described so you can't install 180 out, just thought maybe it might not have dropped down into the holes properly.

Since this may be mechanical instead of electrical try posting this in the engine forum. Perhaps someone there has seen this problem before. You might try contacting MSD as well.
