How much in suspension height will the weight difference cause from BB to SB ?? Alternatively how many "inches to the coil" will I get cutting the orig front springs? [ I'd like to drop the front 1.1/2"] cheers...Dave

I believe you get new springs specifically for a SB that will drop the front end that much. Maybe Hotchkiss (?) or someone. I seem to remember several pairs in the Year One catalog. They're pricey but maybe if you shop around you can get a better deal than YO. When I was in high school and had no money, we took springs from a big block wagon and cut 1 1/2 coils out of them before we put them in my 66 with the 283. The car rode about right but was pretty stiff - I don't think those coils would have worked very well if we'd have cut any more out.

Cheers,
Andy

I realise that cutting isnt the best option. My 70 chevelle sits right using a H/D aftermarket front coil out of a GMHolden [Aust. GM]that mounts the same. I would run the same coil in the Elky but would like to know how much higher it would most likely sit seeing its a SB.and the Chevelles a BB.[unfortunatly the shops here dont sell an abundance of Chevelle/Elky parts- go figure!]...cheers Dave
