im going to remove the chrome strips surrounding the vinyl top of my car to begin body work and i noticed that its mounted by what looks like nails and clips that clip into the chrome strips. my question is how do i get those strips back on once every thing is done...i cant just hammer nails in there again cause they will never stay. should i leave the nails in and work around them or is there an aftermarket product to use for when im ready to reassemble?

Those are not nails and they are studs. They are welded on not nailed on. If your going to put the top back on, leave the studs in the sheetmetal and work around them. If you need to replace any sheetmetal that involves the studs or must replace a stud or two you have two options. 1) You can have new ones welded back on by a body shop with a stud welder. 2) They make a replacement that has a sheetmetal screw end and can be screwed into the appropriate sized hole.
