Make sure the tank isnt full of water condesate. Also you might consider plumbing in a small air tank at you point of use, extra capacitance will help. Make sure you do not exceed the duty rating of the compressor. My next compressor will be a small two stage Ingersol Rand, this other stuff is just crap, particulaly the no sump "oil-less" models.

Not to be smart, but your only other option is a different sander that uses less air. There's just no other way around it.

If the pump can't push enough air the only thing a bigger tank will do is allow you to run an extra minute or 2 (maybe at the most) before the pressure falls. Then, you have to wait longer for the bigger tank to re-fill. There's just no real gain.

That is the reason I recommend to anyone who listens that a 60 gallon upright with a belt driven cast iron pump is the absolute smallest compressor they should consider.

An option almost always over looked is a gasoline engine powered compressor. I had to go that route due to the fact I did not have enough electrical capacity in the barn I made into my shop. I have a gas powered unit and I never run low on air even when using a sand blaster. 25 CFM at 175 PSI! To be nice to the neighbors I added a 5 foot tall exhaust pipe and a small car muffler to the stock muffler..... hehehe Tim the toolman Taylor would be proud.... arrghr arrgh ar argh
