I was offered a FREE 1969 Elky frame in great shape. I even have pics of it. The problem is that apparently I can't get it to work for my 69 convert because of the wheelbase differences and the length. This is correct right?

The frame is down in San Diego, so transportation is a bit of a problem too. Are there any frame companies that can modify an Elky frame to fit a Chevelle Convert body? I doubt I'd be able to do it myself.

Yes, it can be done. But it needs to be done properly. I'm not sure of the exact dimensions, but the 68-72 frames had extra length in the middle of the frame. As opposed to the 64-67 frames where the extra length was behind the rear axle.

With careful cutting and welding it could probably be done. My father turned a long bed Chevy truck into a short bed using this method and it was damn near impossible to tell it was done afterwards.

Has anyone actually ever done one though? I know theoretically it can be done, but how practical is it? Probably not very.
