Has anyone used Zolotone for their bed or trunk? If so, any feedback. Good or not good!! Did you have to strip the paint first or can it be done without stripping.

I used it in a trunk before in a custom Camaro. It looked good and it's durable. easy to use as well. Prep consisted of pre-paint cleaner, da sanding with 220, solvent clean again and shoot. This was with NO rust or any other basic concerns. In a custom application it's a very good product. The clear coat seals, protects and looks great for long long time. The finish also hides minor imperfections.

I used it in my bed and it seemed to fade pretty bad over time. I was not really happy with longevity of the product, but it looked pretty good. Make sure you apply enough product to the bed area. I had spots that I didn't paint enough and i think it contributed to the overall crappines(of course I was only 20 at the time and didn't know what I was doing, and there was no Chevelles.com) graemlins/thumbsup.gif

My elco bed is going to get sprayed with it in the next week or so. I went with the grey stone color. I saw a elco done with it and it looked real nice. My paint store said you should topcoat it with some clear coat, I bought a quart of some inexpensive PPG clear and they gave me some flatner to take the gloss out of it. I will try to get some pics when its done.

So far that's the most inexpensive spray on that I've seen at about $30.00 per quart. I believe it needs to be coated. Thanks for any picture you can post in the future. graemlins/waving.gif

It needs to be cleared to be protective. If you don't desire a shiney appearance, a flattener can be added to dull the clear coat.

I paid 85.00 for a gallon of it at my paint store, the clear with hardener was 39.00 I believe.

Thanks BigMoe, I will inquire about getting it by the gallon. It might save me some bucks! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
