: Hood Hinge Problem

We are installing a fiberglass hood with a 4 3/4" cowl on our 65 Chevelle SS. We received the hood and low tension springs from one compnay and ordered the hinges through another company. The hood is a pin down in the front type. When my husband and I installed the hood and evened up the gaps on all sides, we encountered a problem. In order for the hood to lay flat (in line with the fenders) we need to give the sides of the hood a "push" to get it to line up. Another finding is that when the hood is lifted from the exact center, the passenger side hinge maxes out before the driver side does. In turn, the driver side of the hood is the side that seems to be raised more than the passenger before "pushing" it in place.
Any suggestions/advice? Should I leave it for the body shop to tackle?
Thank you in advance for any response.

Have you lubed the hinges yet? They can be pretty stiff without lubrication. A little white lithium grease, spray can, might allow them to close better without that little 'push'.

Loosen up the rear hinge to fender bolt and rock the hinges rearward by lifting the front of the hood up higher, then tighted, then close the hood and see how far it needs to come forward, loosed the hinge to hood bolts and slide the hood forward to even the alignment. Rocking the hinges will lower the rear corner of the hood, your latch and adjustable hood stops locate the front height.

They way I read it was the middle of the hood between the hinge and front bumper was high. Not the rear of the hood, I might be wrong though. If the middle of the hood is high and pushing on this portion of the hood makes it go down then the hinges have not hit the end of their travel. If they're binding they may cause the hood to flex in the middle, it's fiberglass not steel.
