does anybody know if a edelbrock air gap intake will
fit under the factory 1972 chevelle cowl induction hood with
the flapper door?

Should fit fine, im running a 70 malibu with a 502, air gap, big block frame pads and motor mounts. My 4" k&n filter fits with a drop base bottom. Afetrmarket cowl hood without flapper.

If you check the search feature you should find this question answered by a few more guys with flapper and without. This question has come up before. Results I've read are a yes. Myself, I have a 71 with the air gap, with non flapper hood and use an Oval billet cleaner.
