Powder coating works great and is very chemical and chip resistant. I am not sure what a "restoration" powder coating is. Maybe he means that they use the correct semi gloss black.

I'm sure you'll be really happy with the powdercoat, durabilitywise it is great. Another benefit is the coating goes inside the boxed rails where paint is difficult to apply.

the static charge will pull the powder through any bolt holes etc. and make it cling to the inside of the rails etc.

IF the coater has experience with frames, he will stick the gun that dispenses the powder into the various hole and open channels of the frame. The electrostatic charge will pull the powder to the bare metal. Once in the oven, the powder will flow beautifully into every nook.

Had my A-arms and sway bar coated 8 years ago, after 20k miles still looks great. I'd love to have the frame done, too... someday...

Hey hobart did you go with flat black or semi or high gloss. would gloss black look right on a frame? I can get the frame done for about $500 to $600.good or bad price?

red, I don't honestly remember; though by the look of it I'm gonna guess semi-gloss. I'm sure someone else will chime in here soon...

I had my '67 Elky frame powdercoated "chassis black" which is a semi-gloss. Looked great and easy to keep clean! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Also had a '70 Chevelle frame coated blood red and installed it under an all black 2 door. Actually looked very  .

I had mine done in a semi-gloss/satin and am happy with the outcome. Click on my pictures below.

I HIGHLY recommend powdercoating your frame! The frame on my '71 Pro Touring Chevelle was done right around one year ago by a place in western Mass. They sandblasted & coated the frame for only $500. Pix on my site below.

Does anyone know of a good powder coater in NJ?
