I ordered a new scan tool: an OTC 3409. Couldn't believe how inexpensive it was. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with this particular model? I'm used to the Ford Super Star tester & etc., never used a "generic" scan tool before.

For those who have this one in their toolbox, what do you like/dislike about it?

Here is the link. Looks like it will capture and graph live data (MAF, ACT, ETC & etc.) besides just pulling codes. Apparently it will grab tranny info also.

Click on Electronic diagnostics, then scroll down to "3409". They are in ascending order.

IMO, OTC is a good brand, never had any problems with any of their specialty hand tools, and I have a few. I had a Snap-On scanner for a while, but I sold it for almost what I paid for it when it became apparent that it was going to cost a small fortune to keep it regularly updated. Add to that the fact that I couldn't justify the cost of it due to the amount of work I was doing with it. I will probably pick one up again someday, most likely the OTC unit, as I think you can get much more out of it display-wise than the Auto X-ray unit. For now, the only car in my stable that is EFI is the wife's '02 Durango, and it's been reliable so far. Okay, that and the bike, but I've got 4 years of warranty on that one. ;)
