69ragtop Jul 3rd, 00, 6:11 PM well, Ive got the 69 down to the frame and body.Im having a tough time with the body bolts.the front and back two are frozen tight.not to big of a deal, I can get to them with an air chissel,but two of the inner nuts have broken loose,so the whole bolt and bushing just turns free.I know Im not the only one who has tried to do a frame off with unfavorable conditions,can any veterans out there give me some advice. thanks 70isfine Jul 3rd, 00, 6:28 PM try a search on it.i have seen this topic before.usually the only solution is to cut the area above the spinning bolt open,hold the nut with vise grips or a wrench,and remove the bolt.after your finished you have to weld up the hole you cut.one cool trick i heard was to cut a hole with a hole saw then put a rubber plug in the hole for future access. ------------------ 70 chevelle,400cid turbo400.blue with silver stripes.http://members.spree.com/entertainment/ochrisl/ 69ragtop Jul 3rd, 00, 6:45 PM thanks 70isfine, sorry to beat a dead horse guys,Im new here and didnt know about the "search" function.did a search and found great info on it. thanks again. Redrum Jul 4th, 00, 12:25 AM 69 ragtop.... I have a post about the bushings in the suspension thread! When you get yours off could you measure the inner sleeve and let me know the sizes? They should be a mix of 3/4 inch bore and 1 inch bore sleeves in the bushings. I ordered a new set that came with eight, 3/4 inch bushings and two, one inch bushings for a 69 Chevelle. I had to cut holes in the floor of the trunk and beside the front seat to get to the bolts to put a wrench on them.it was tougher on the two "backseat" bolts.the convertible has a brace on both sides that had to be cut into.redrum I will check when I get home this evening and let you know what I find on the sizes.I really didnt pay much attention to the sleeve diameter when I pulled them out. | ||
