really? i wouldn't think a '64 frame would fit a '66..... are the two exactly the same, or is there some descrepency in terms of fit? i ask because i'm going to need a new frame for my '67 in a few years.

Huh?

i wouldn't think a '64 frame would fit a '66..... are the two exactly the same, or is there some descrepency in terms of fit? i ask because i'm going to need a new frame for my '67 in a few years. I am sure there is a reason why you didn't ask if the 64 was the same as the 67, but it just sounded funny...

Basically, for 1964-1967 there were 4 different frames:
1) Convertible (boxed)
2) El Camino (boxed and longer BEHIND rear axle)
3) Wagon (non-boxed, but same as El Camino)
4) Everything else (2-door hardtops, 4-doors, 2-door posts...)

There might be minor differences between the years, and models (such as Big Block Equipped frames having some extra holes, stick-shift cars having clutch linkage supports, etc), but they should all be able to be used...

Personally, if I were thinking of the future, I would pick up the 64 frame (if available), but keep looking for the correct 67 frame... If you don't find it, then you have the 64 to fall back on...

The part of the frame where the rear springs sit up in the frame are different on 64-66 verses 67 frames. This is also true for the spring perch on the rear end. But still interchangeable - just may need to use the other year springs.

I have a frame for a 66 that I will be looking to get rid of in about a month. I have my body on it while it is getting painted, when it comes back I will have no need for it. If anyone is interested let me know.

The car was a 66 hardtop california car and its not bent or damaged as far as I know. Also it will be a roller with a 10 bolt posi on it.
