: cracked!

I'm doing a little body work on nose on the hood of my 72 SS, where there was a large chip. I've sanded and applied some gazing compound on the affected area and sanded to prefection and then primed. After a week, I noticed a small crack in the primer. What would cause this to happen? Do I strip and rework the area?

Thanks

i have never had this happen but heard stories of it happening because water gets in the primer.so my answer is i would strip and rework it for best resalts

This time, might try dry sanding. I have more luck with it that wet, especially when Bondo and primers are involved. The Bondo seems to REALLY soak up the water.

What type of GLAZING compound did you use? the single stage type without hardener? If so, chances are it shrunk and that would cause a crack. That old single stage crap shouldn't even be sold anymore with all of the excellent new products on the market.
Are you also using lacquer primer? Urethane and/or epoxy primer surfacer is 100 times better.
