Sorry for all these questions, guys!
I will be prepping/painting my trunk floor tomorrow on the 70 Chevelle. Unfortunately, I have an extremely expensive paint job to protect. Any masking tips? I saw some kind of plastic tarp on Dream Car Garage that looked kind of clever. What about the back seat area? The car, unfortunately, has the full interior installed.
Thanks for the help.

Tony,3M, Marson to name a few all make this plastic mask. It comes on a roll so you can cut to length. Just unfold and cut the plastic to your tape.
As for the front of trunk I would use masking paper not plastic. Paint can flake off the plastic and land in the paint, were if you use paper it wont.
To answer the other question I wouldnt use a water based primer for the Zoletone. Water based was made for 2 reasons, first the lower VOC laws. Second say you paint a fender and lifts in one spot, you remove the lifted paint then can apply water based primer or sealer to that spot as it wont have solvent to reactive with the sensitive substrate.
Depending on the condition of your trunk you could skip the variprime. If it has nice paint on it already then I would just scuff and use an epoxy primer. But if it has bare metal spots and or rust spots then variprime would be my choice. Now keep in mind NO etch primer(variprime)is meant to be used as a stand alone primer. I would etch then seal with epoxy then Zoletone. Not sure on other dupont products but their prime-seal is the epoxy primer of choice, but that was 4-5 years ago...Eric

If you use the plastic made by Norton the paint will not flake off like some of the other plastics. It is blue in color.
