What exactly is " Solvent Pop" and how is it caused on a new paint job ? and can you do anything to repair as it appears it does not buff out ?

It is caused by not waiting long enough between coats. The first coat is still evaporating solvents and then you cover it with another coat. As the 1st coat solvents evaporate they have to get through the 2nd coat as cause those little craters everywhere. You can try to sand them out.

Sometimes it's not just craters, I've seen many times where it looks like really small white bubbles within the clear-below the surface. If it's the crater kind you'll need to resand and reclear, if it's the little bubbles you'll need to sand then color then clear. If you've got just a couple of craters they can be dabbed with clear let dry for a few days then blocked and buffed. Upload some pics. Bob

Thanks guys I really appreciate the info ........ it's the little crater kind , paint is only 2 weeks old so will wait a few more weeks do the final wet sand polish see how they look, and if still there nice to know I can sand and reclear the area .......... I was told nothing you can do about them as they were caused by incorrect thinning of clear and or contaminant between clear coats ......... I'm not sure they would show up in a picture you really have to look to see them , the right light/ angle etcetc
