I did a search on here but did not find anything. my question is on 68s were they vacume or electric? my assembly manual shows vac but also says cancelled and don't show electric. i thought they were vac till i was at cb05 a guy there had one but said that 68 was electric accoring to his book that he showed me it said they stopped vac. in 67. so now i'm confused does anyone have a 68 with factory installed release? tell me what you have please thanks

I have a bag full of power trunk releases (3). I hope that one will fit my car. It has a green button for the pocket, I think the camaro was a yellow button. They are all electric. Let me know and I will take a pic of what I have and email it to you. I think they were all electric in 68 and up. I have one on both of my 69 camaros. :)

Thanks Jonathan i'm not just refering to the button but the whole system did yours come factory with the option? just want to make sure. before i go looking for a system thanks again Ed

no not factory. the camaro ones are. I got the button and a couple pieces for the trunk. the wiring in the middle is just (i think) a hot wire between the button and the piece in the turnk. I think the only think that would look non factory is if you got the wrong button. looks to me that the electrical unit in the turnk is hidden. I think the unit in the trunk grounds itself so all you need is power. I will be out of town the rest of the week and the weekend so cant send you the pics till next Tuesday Wednesday.
Maybe someone else here has it as an option and can post a pic of the button and the switch in the trunk installed. That would informative for both of us. :)

Can't say I have ever seen one. If the assy manual shows it cancelled , it might not have ever been installed at he factory. I have owned 6 or more 68s but none of them were "high option" cars so I doubt they would have gotten the option. Good Luck. You could always liberate the parts off of an 80's Monte, regal, cutlass as a lot of them got it.
