I put some R12 on ebay and followed their policy; buyer must prove they are certified...or sign a statement that it is for resale only. They pulled my ad! There are plenty of listings that state the same thing.
So what's the deal? How can someone sell this stuff?

I see it on craigslist.com alot, you don't have to say certified or anything, usually goes for 20-30 a can, also my neighbor was telling me you can get certified on the internet, I think I'm going to get the site from him, he says it's $20, a simple test and you can then go buy R-12 over the counter, Jim

Doug,
I sold some last year and did not have a problem. I was getting ready to put some more on E-bay ... we will see what happens.

I have heard a rumor that 134A is going to be phased out soon and a new refrigerant will be taking it's place. So I might have to stock up on some 134A.

I got a reply back on my question from eBay. I did not word it exactly as they wanted. So, you must state that the buyer must prove he is cerified, ahead of time, and you must state how he is to prove it.
I'll try it again. eBay is so hard to work with some times.

One of my big beefs with eBay. Their policies tend to be arbitrary, and they tend to enforce them arbitrarily, as well. I've had them pull auctions that were worded exactly as ones I'd posted many times in the past with no trouble, while at the same time leaving ones I KNOW violate eBay policy but put on just to see what would happen.

Just repost the auction. Unless things have drastically changed in the last few years, you should be ok.

Much of the 'policing' on eBay is done by sellers and buyers NOT by eBay staff (except in the DVD/CD areas which are a whole different topic). Other sellers/buyers report 'offenders' to ebay and then ebay drops the hammer. So....say your starting price is cheaper than another (maybe more established) seller for the same item that may be 'questionable' (R12) and that other seller gets mad because you are 'stealing' his business. All that seller has to do is shoot off an email to ebay stating that there is something wrong with your listings and ebay will simply shut them down no questions asked more times than not. It has happened to me. I know this because the 'other seller' emailed me gloating.

Just FYI

I would just relist and see what happens.
