Bad Rat 414 Jun 22nd, 05, 8:16 AM NIce...you should put a 2x4 under the front end of that stand to lift the front of the engine. I have the same problem with my stand.

Ya, I will put blocks or a 2x4 under the front soon as I finish and get the plastic bag on it. My stand is actually build with some forward lean to it.

Not to worry, soon as engine is done, the car is coming apart. :p I decided to build the power train first, then take the car apart. It is currently running on a 350 w/TH350, but have the 396 and an M-21 all built for it. I'm doing a frame off restoration with a few mods.
If the car was done, I would not have the bikes so close to it. But, good eye noticing that.
1badss396 Jun 22nd, 05, 10:20 AM I will trade you 1 of my 396 motors for yours, HEHEhe;)
snydes Jun 22nd, 05, 6:03 PM Hey, I've seen one of those before too, looks good. I did the same thing, rebuilt the engine like first thing and then had to stare at it on the stand for years before I even heard it run. At the time you wouldn't have talked me into doing it any other way, but if I ever restore another car I'm going to wait till last for the engine. Are you going to try and find a numbers correct carb?
There was a guy here with a '67 that was originally butternut yellow, and they couldn't decide if they were going to paint it orginal color, was that you? If it was, what did you decide so far?
Rodeo73 Jun 23rd, 05, 9:38 AM A numbers correct carb would be cool, but not sure if I will be able to find one. The one that was on my engine when I got it looks like a 66 Q-jet, it has a rod and dash pot that controls how fast the secondary airvalve opens instead of a vacuum control. I found a place that has one they would rebuild, but was asking way more that what I really wanted to pay for one. Figured I could get one that looks and runs like the original, just without the number tin on it for half that price.
It was probably me your thinking of about butternut yellow and deciding on the color. I believe I have fallen for the blue since it would keep the car looking close to what it is now, and also keep the memory of high school cruising with the blue paint. Not really fond of the yellow, and if I was to buy the car new myself, I would have chosen a blue. :)
If anyone has a lead on a correct '67 Q-jet, let me know. I won't be breaking down and ordering a carb for about 4-5 weeks, since I will be off on a 2 week vacation starting in 3 weeks from now. :waving:
snydes Jun 23rd, 05, 8:26 PM Like how much, around $700 restored? Unfortunately, I did allot of damage to my original carb   (don't ask) so I've been looking around for another. Haven't found anything reasonable yet, and I'm thinking I'd be lucky if I did.
Keep up the good work
Rodeo73 Jun 24th, 05, 8:41 AM Yup it was just over $700... :(
snydes Jun 24th, 05, 3:07 PM By the way I sent you a private message (upper right).
