Has anyone ever painted or undercoated their gas tank? My '70 has some light surface rust on the tank, and while I could sand it down to clean metal, i'm wondering what would look and work best until I can afford a new tank next year.
Thanks,
Jim

I bought a spray can of undercoating at the local auto parts store for the daily beater. It's basically asphalt in a can. Spray it on and it seems to really seep into the rust, then in a couple of days it has set up to a thick, black consistency. It is relatively inexpensive, looks OK, and should get you though for a year.

I just painted mine a couple weeks ago.
I used Eastwoods tank tone. Looks pretty good but I don't know how well it will hold up yet.

Thanks for the replies,
The Eastwood paint might look better, but the undercoat may be easier. I'm not putting the tank back in until next week, so that gives me some time to think over the options.
