The lower "flange" or the surface that the bottom of the windshield seals to had some form of filler to cover the multiple sheet metal seams adjacent to the bottoms of both posts. In addition to covering the seams, it was contured to match the shape of the bottom of the windshield.
This filler on my car was cracked (actually spiderwebbed) and leaked tons of water.
Now that I have removed this bad filler, the rust and patched the holes, I don't have a clue what type of filler to use.
This is the second time I have asked.Would someone PLEASE HELP. Thanks

If your car had some sort of "contouring" material it was probably a "bondo". The factory had just a little seam sealer in the seam between the dash panel and the roof post.
If that is all you need then just get some urethane seam sealer and put it in the seam and then spread it out with your finger or a small acid brush works well.
If it is a "bondo" it is probably there because it has some rust damage that was filled with the "bondo". If that is the case it will fail again.
What condition is this metal in? Is it rusted? Is it bare metal? Is it in primer now or is it painted?

MARTINSR,
It sounds like I am in trouble again. (or should I say, facing just one more challenge on this car).
There was definitely 3/4"+ of a bondo type material filling a large gap on each side. The metal showing is pitted and has some holes. These holes have not be patched. The gaps are down to bare metal with rust in the bottom of the pits.
Probably the cleanest way to show what I am up against is to you email you a couple of pictures. Would that be OK?
Thank you for your help. I need it. This is my first project car.

Joe,
We both face a challenge or two. Are we having fun yet?
