: COPO Restorations...by Bain
Xplantdad Jun 20th, 05, 11:41 PM Check this out...
Oh no Toto...not another twister!
http://www.vee8muscle.com/
Wow...what will he think of next?
Cecil Jun 21st, 05, 12:59 AM I like the part about finding the POP when tearing the car down a second time. We know those things don't show up on eBay, don't we?
LS6-M22 Jun 21st, 05, 1:08 AM On his for sale page it reads [The final Product]
The final Product
A COPO 427 complete with the Protecto Plate found in the car after ripping it up a second time in key areas to improve the rebuild. I almost accepted 30,000 dollars for the car last year. I am sure glad I turned that down.
I didn't know GM hid PoPs in the car like build sheets? :rolleyes
BIGSARGE Jun 21st, 05, 2:35 AM I didn't know buying a fake POP on ebayand then saying it was found during a rebuild qualified a "shop" to meet ISO 9000 QC protocols!
However, this should be an interesting thread for as long as it lasts!
Bomber '67 Jun 21st, 05, 4:24 AM Whew, pretty amazing what kind of stinky cheese follows the money in the car hobby.
I think that there might be enough Bain material on the internet to write an entertaining book. Best of all is that with Bain's indestructable ego he would be a willing and unapologetic co-author.

mr 4 speed Jun 21st, 05, 8:11 AM you gotta love the sneakers in this one:

:D
Zman Jun 21st, 05, 8:22 AM I especially enjoyed the Authentication section.
He can authenticate your car from lists, and documents that others simply don't have!
Oh, and be patient, the process can take up to a year to complete.
For only $5400...but wait...you pay nothing until all of the proof is made...er... I mean found.
And the COPOs for everyone
Good lord...What's next.
rocks66ss Jun 21st, 05, 10:38 AM Man, You can't go wrong when it meets the stringent ISO 9000 protocols QC.
Thats Good.

"Engine bay ready to be clear coated
The engine bay is now ready for a final clear coat, and the arduous process of putting it back together"
You know....If I was trying to do a 'restoration' on a supposed COPO, B/W, or YENKO (or whatever it is this week) car, my engine compartment would look a WHOLE lot better than that. I can't believe he is even wasting his time clear coating that mess! I'm also reasonably sure that it didn't come from the factory looking like that!
proform Jun 21st, 05, 1:04 PM Quote
"ISO 9000 QC certifies these procedures and companies can't fake it; it takes time and effort, but in the end it gives the customer confidence that product restoration and procedures are repeatable and traceable. No more Mickey Mouse ways of getting around problems, or methods of authentication of parts or cars that leave a varied degree of confidence to the buyer."
Guess he didn't have the ISO9000 when he built his "COPO" 69.

Should change it to REPO-COPO
1badss396 Jun 21st, 05, 1:28 PM Thats why his web site say this----> Bain's Vee 8 Muscle Creations
NOTE THE WORD CREATIONS!!!!!!Self created!!!
jmoose Jun 21st, 05, 2:00 PM Maybe have a dedicated Bain section in the forums to keep up on his b.s. If nothing else it's entertaining.
John_Muha Jun 21st, 05, 3:00 PM Just a note.
The 94 version of ISO 9000 has been replaced by ISO 9000:2000. Old version is obsolete.
ISO 9000:2000 has "Improving Customer Satisfaction" as a new measurement of performance of the Quality Management System.
1966_L78 Jun 21st, 05, 3:14 PM Despite his past history on our site,
Who would want to take there car to THIS shop?
Real Professional looking (http://www.vee8muscle.com/no2.jpg)
So the site touts this great quality attitude, yet they so pictures of some messy home garage...
texastornado Jun 21st, 05, 3:30 PM I've seen everything now, excuse me while I go throw up. What a complete and total idiot.
Dean Jun 21st, 05, 3:57 PM Someone should go back to day one when he first started asking questions and complie ALL his questions and remarks then publish a book "The Whole Truth"
This guy is giving our hobby a real black eye trying to get rich, ripping off unsuspecting unkowing folks.
We need to spread the word somehow
Cecil Jun 21st, 05, 5:52 PM If I remember right, the ISO qualifications have nothing to do with faking anything, only that you have documented procedures for what you are doing and that you do things according to those documented procedures. Doesn't say you can't make things up...

Yep, and if you can't follow your procedures....then change the procedures.
67 GTO Jun 21st, 05, 8:11 PM That's what COPO is all about, COPO's FOR EVERYONE!!!!
Can't say that I'm too surprised by anything he does anymore, but I couldn't help but to laugh out loud when I seen the pic of him standing there with wet pants!
proform Jun 21st, 05, 8:16 PM I may want a car done by him. Where's his contact info on his web site?
NVMYMalibu Jun 21st, 05, 8:22 PM He only lists a yahoo email account as far as I've been able to find
Buzzbomb Jun 21st, 05, 8:29 PM Maybe this is the continuation of his market research project that he mentioned in one of the earlier threads. PT Barnum conducted a market research project too; he came to the conclusion that there is a sucker born every minute. I actually thought Bain was older than he appears to be in that picture. If that IS Bain, and the archives of his endless questions are still here, there is now a face to the person. Not real smart when you are doing shady things, IMHO. Whatever, I guess.
proform Jun 21st, 05, 8:52 PM 585 hits on his web site!!
Looks like he has alot of interest. The COPO market must be booming.
irongolf Jun 21st, 05, 8:59 PM Thanks for helping me out here guys, it's done wonders for my fledgling website. I have already received 500 + plus views and numerous contacts for parts sales. Thanks guys! Keep up the good work, as you are alot cheaper than buying a position on the web browsers, and I kind of figured on that; so you have just given me free advertising and business. The more you try to disrespect me, the stronger I get. Thank You !!!!! I certainly appreciate all your help. I am back in business and I owe it all to the COPO boys.

"if you want the parts you know where to come"
irongolf Jun 21st, 05, 9:04 PM Yea thats me, and if you have nothing to fear then there's no problem showing your face, and thats the way it is. Nothing shady going on here, and nothing to fear. Happy to serve my clients and have no problems showing them who they are dealing with. Thanks again guys it's cool of you guys to help out my biz!!!

How did you get that engine out without taking the hood off the car?
proform Jun 21st, 05, 9:27 PM How did you get that engine out without taking the hood off the car?
That would be a PROFESSIONAL TRADE SECRET.. Now move along:waving:
NVMYMalibu Jun 21st, 05, 10:26 PM That would be a PROFESSIONAL TRADE SECRET.. Now move along:waving:
Shhhhhh.......that is a little known option! That cherry-picker was only available through COPO (duh!) as an option on cars whose POP's were hidden in the car so well that it takes two or three 'teardowns' to find. Another requirement was that the 'factory 427' must be shipped separately from the car.
texastornado Jun 21st, 05, 10:33 PM Who else remembers that thread from the NASOIC message board, where they did wonders with Photoshop, depicting that fat chick on the back of the motorcycle in endless, hilarious, compromising positions? This could be get REALLY interesting, let's see how many we can get in this thread! That is, if the moderators don't kill it............
Cecil Jun 21st, 05, 11:35 PM I guess the golf thing didn't work out...
NVMYMalibu Jun 21st, 05, 11:39 PM I guess the golf thing didn't work out...
Yeah....somehow I just can't see him as a Golf (Semi)Pro

Cecil Jun 22nd, 05, 12:34 AM Those are nice cars. Too bad he's trying to manufacture COPOs out of them...
BIGSARGE Jun 22nd, 05, 1:05 AM Am I missing something or does he only have 1 car for sale, it being the same "NOPO" thats been on Ebay for about a year or so? I would sure like to bring my Chevelle by his shop for a "certificate of authentication". Wonder what the address is to this miracle working place?
You guys need to quit feeding his ego.....
