hi, we have a cowl induction hood with no flapper.
on the under side of the hood there is a pattern of where to cut the flapper in.
and it has all the induction ducts.
can one of you great body men tell me if we buy the kit from ground up,can we just cut the hole for it?

Sounds to me like you have a SS hood instead of the CI hood which is totally different. The undersides are not even close to being the same. The SS hood is more open on the underside were the CI hood is more complex and has a circluar cut out for the air cleaner to seal too

Even tho this pic is NOT a chevelle hood, the chevelle CI hood will still look VERY MUCH like this one. If yours looks nothing like this on the underside you have a SS hood...Eric

Going from a SS hood to CI takes more then cutting a square hole it would take a total re-vamping of the the underside structure as the SS hood will not allow a CI system

It looks to me like someone tried to take a regular domed SS hood and fabricate some sort of C/I setup. The plate that goes on top of the air cleaner should not be a flat piece. It is flat and then has a circular raised area where it would contact the air cleaner seal. To do this mod cutting the hole would be the easy part. All of the ork would come from the bracing and brackets that it would take to make the door functional. If you really want a functional cowl hood the nI would jsut spring for one from Goodmark.
