Is there any way to match the Vin # to the cowl tag on a 69 chevelle? I would like to know if my cowl tag is the original one that came on it or if someone has switched it over the years.

nope, cowl tag to POP only. I'm guessing you think the numbers behind the 136679K->xxxxxxx(these numbers) are supposed to match your vin number; the answer is no, this is just the fisher body sequence numbers and are of no real value. good luck, hope this answers your question. jason.

Ditto. Fisher Body plate will not match VIN. It'd be unusual for someone to replace the body plate since it primarily gives series/model (obvious anyway), interior trim color/seat type and exterior paint. POP to body plate isn't that informative as the POP will list the interior color/paint and exterior paint as well. The POP would tell you if it's a SS car or not by the engine number. Best bet is a build sheet, it'll tell you options, body number (that would match body plate) and, depending on the assembly plant, would match some other numbers on the body plate.
