I'm ready to take off the front 1/4s and have all the bolts out EXCEPT one on the bottom next to the frame. It is right in front of the seam with the door. I put an impact wrench on it and all it does it spin. I cannot find a way to get a wrench on the nut - no room.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to remove the stubborn bolt?

Thanks.

Tom,
No such thing as a front "quarter", I think you mean fender. You are going to have to cut the head off the bolt. Pretty common problem as the bolts rust up and the "captured" nut just starts spinning.

If your talking about Front Fenders. The bottom bolt go's into a BLIND gage nut thats located inside the biottom of the cowl.
It's Spining, now.. you must remove the bolt head by Grinding it off or by useing a torch oxy/accl or plasma. Remove the fender.. Now there are a number of ways, But most of the time I use a wizzer and slice the bottom of the cowl along the radi , then up to the protruding remaning bolt hole.. like an upside down T... I then spread open with a pry bar and remove the spinning sq headed metal nut ( it's like a peice of flat stock with a threaded hole ) drill out old bolt if you can.. weld in new anti spin tabs Rusted ot bent flat form the inpact, insert flat stock nut.. form back lower cowl flush position with hammer and weld up....
Alott of wrok for ONE bolt.. is one reason I NEVER use an impact on Hidden cage nuts..I break them loose with a ratchet if frozen use solvent or heat. .or grind off an use methoud like above..

Wayne, On the 66 and I assume the 67, the lower fender bolt doesn't go into the cowl. The 66/67's use a clip type nut (Goodmark calls them "J" type cage nuts) similar to what is used to bolt the inner fenders on, only larger. I think I've only had 1 of these ever come off without breaking.

Tom, You will need to grind the head of the bolt off. If I remember correctly, the area where the nut is doesn't allow access with anything to keep it from spinning. After you grind the head off and remove the fender, you should be able to remove the bolt/frozen nut by hand and replace with a new "J" type cage nuts.

Thanks to all of you for the advice. I will never call them front quarters again :)
