I am trying to mount the hood on my '69 Chevelle that I purchased 10 months ago. I have repainted everything and went to install the hood after installing the hindges and ran into a big problem. The holes in the hindges have different spacing than the mounting holes in the hood. Dimensions I took are 12 1/4"from center to center on hood and on the hindges it's 14 5/8" from center to center of mounting holes. I know that this hood is not origional but now I don't know if the hindges are from a '69 or if the hood is a '69 or a '68. Any help that anyone could give me would sure help this nightmare.I need to figure out how to deal with this mess!!! Thanks for any help that you can offer.

My 68 hood and hinges are 12 1/4". I recently saw where 68 hinges are being reproduced, so you could just get new hinges.

i ran into the same problem trying to put a 68 ss hood on my 69,i looked in my parts interchange book found out that 69 hinges will not match to a 68 hood. you need to get 68 hinges with seem to be a rare find in my area, so i got another pair of 69 hinges and redrilled the boltholes

I have 6 hoods that I know all came off original 68 Chevelles. 4 have the holes drilled 12 3/4" center to center and 2 have the holes drilled 12 1/4" center to center. I'm always running into something that goes against all the rules. Just when you think you know exactly how something should be, up pops something that I would doubt without having seen for myself.
