Is there any base/clear system that can be applied over a freshly painted acrylic enamel metallic?

Let me change this around a little. Would i have any problem in just sanding out any imperfections and the changing to a solid color of the same paint...an acrylic enamel? I'm not reaaly 100 percent pleased with the metallic and now that i'm learning that i can't sand or buff maybe it would be a less expensive and less time consuming fix. Thanks

You can change the color to a solid with no problems. Most of the enamels now offered also have a compatible clear that would make buffing easier if that is your goal. Urethanes are the way to go in my opinion but if fresh enamel is on it now I'd just wetsand it down to remove any imperfections and put on the color of choice. The paint will flow more this time around so make sure you let the first tack coat tack well before hosing it on. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
