My Chevelle is in the body shop and the owner tells me he can repair the trunk by glueing a new trunk to the existing trunk(which has some rust in it)has anyone heard of this?THANKS

I havent i would have just cut the old out and put a new trunk pan in but maybe that works better.

That sounds waaay too shady; rust spreads no matter how much you cover it up. It needs to be cut out completely. Add to that, no trunk should ever be JUST glued in, but at least tack welded in place.

Sorry, but in my humble opinion, "shady" is putting it mildly! I'm no expert, but how would this body shop owner keep moisture from developing between the two layers of trunk? I'd be thinking thoughts about how fast I could remove my prized possesion from his shop. If you can't do it right, why do it at all?

If the bodyshop is repacing the quarter, how much labor to replace the floor?

I would highly recomend that the metal in the trunk be REPLACED. Rust will not stop and it will migrate to the metal over time. Body adhesives are very good at what they do and are moisture proof, sealing etc, but it can't stop rust on metal. It may require that the 2 braces be replaced but the end result is what you are after.

The quarter panel replacement should really have no affect on how the trunk floor is replaced as this is done ONE section at a time to keep alignments.

Hope it helps.
