On the tech sheets it says to have 8-10psi at the cap for an hvlp gun, what pressure is at the regulator on my gun?Is there an average amount of drop to calculate for each type of gun, like hvlp's and suction types?

Rick in order to measure the pressure at the cap you need a high fluting air cap gauge(nothing a few hundred wont set you back).

What type of gun you using, Sata, Iwata, Sharpe also the model of the gun. Not every gun runs at the same inlet pressure to achieve the 8-10 psi at the cap.

My Sata LM2000 runs at 43 psi my Sata NR2000 is 29psi and the RP is 32-34psi

Both the Sharpe Cobalt and titanium run at 50 psi.

But it should say in your sheet the required inlet pressure.

SEVT ,I'm using a Sata 2000 w/the green ring.
What are the different color plastic u-shaped pieces that go on the bottom of the grip for?

Thanks

Rick, just incase your were not aware but that SATA you have is a air hog. That NR2000 NEEDS 15cfm@29psi. Its a sweet gun but without that required air it will shoot like a 19.99 special from Harbor Freight.

I have three Sata guns of my own and use 2 at work and Ive never seen those plastic clips. The only thing I can think of is a plug for the air inlet for usage in a gun washer. Ill do some checking and see what those are for cus I know NO clue

Hi flywheel, those u shaped pieces that go in the bottom of the handle are for I.D. purposes.SAy for example 2 or 3 painters have the same gun they can use the different colors so they can find their gun graemlins/clonk.gif

Crazy,That makes sense, there was several different colors in my box.

Sevt,So does that mean that I need to run it at about 25-30 lbs to get the 8-10 psi at the tip?I think I've been running it a little higher than that, say at about 35 lbs.I'm going to be shooting some more of the Sunset orange on my Elky tomorrow.I'll try running it a little lower  Thanks for all the help...

Rick the paint gun makers know that not ALL painters have those air cap gauges so they list the inlet pressure that will give you that 8-10psi at the cap.

With a pressure set at 29 psi and the fluid backed out adjusted properly you will get that 8-10 psi at the cap. If you run a tad over dont worry, but going under can result in poor paint atomization
