Ok Guys, I see some in the right rear fender and some in the right front. Did they ever come from the factory in the rear on any model?

Yes, a rear antenna was an option. If the customer ordered an AM radio, the standard location for the antenna was in the front fender. If they wanted it, they could order a rear antenna as a separate option.

Thanks!! Now, where would be the best place to find the exact location for it in that rear fender? I have one on the front fender of the 67 we're re-doing right now and I think we may want to move it. It's not a resto, just a re-do so now would be the time to get that hole in the front welded up.

Herb, I'll take a look at my assembly manual tonight, it has stuff like that and may have a page with exact dimensions.

For some reason I thought the AM/FM was in the front fender, and AM only was the rear. I like the look of it in the back also.

Herb, I found the page for the rear antenna in the assembly manual, but am having trouble making sense of it. The diameter of the hole is 1.12 but I can't make sense of the other reference points and numbers. Do you have a fax number I can reach you at? I can copy this page and fax it to you, or actually as long as I have to bring the book to work I can just scan it and post it. It gives a couple measurements like 117.00 P.V. and 30.80 P.V. What do you suppose the P.V. stands for?

I'll scan tomorrow and post here.

Okay Herb, this might help but I still can't tell where you're supposed to measure from.

Also, I guess it's worth noting this is for a '66, am I wrong in assuming the antenna placement would not have changed between 66 and 67?

From the 1966 assembly manual (http://www.felkerusa.com/ant.jpg)

Thanks Ed,

I can't tell what PV means. Does anyone else know? Also, does the 66 spec apply to a 67?

Herb, I brought this up in the general tech area and am getting some interesting feedback here: P.V. question (http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=35;t=001350)

You are almost right ;) .... if you got an AM/FM radio then you always got the single mast antenna up front. If you got an AM RADIO, the antenna could go in either place, front or rear and it was telescopic.

If you would like a template for the rear antenna mounting location, I will be more than happy to send it to you. E-mail me off list and I will will send it.

I went thru that PV thing when I set my power antenna in the rr fender. I found that the measurement in the gm assemble manual, was from the leading edge of the firewall to the location on the top of the rr fender. I know this is correct, because my wife was in my garage telling me that if i messed up that expensive paint job that I would be living in the "GARAGE MA HALL" for some indefinite time. If the r.f. fender is on the car this measurement is tough to get. That dang OE assembly manual is tough to read, but Damn helpful if your wife HELPS with your patience

Mike Wow, that was indeed almost right. I'll get something completely right one of these days. Mike, can you confirm that all this information is the same from 66 to 67?

Thank you.
