well i took it into the transmission shop and he put on a new linkage, swapped the chrome pan that leaked like a siv. the shifts very crisp when i manually shift from first to second, or second to third manually. but when i leave it in drive (or third), it will wait until about 5000rpms to shift, and this is under any amount of throttle not just WOT.

any ideas?

valve or something possibly sticking?

Did you vacum modulater get disconnected? Have you adjusted it? That is what this sounds like to me.

Did the vacuum hose come off the modulator ? Its free to look .
