: Racing with a column shifter

Has anyone made modifications to the stock column shifter (or used a Flamming River of similar unit) to safely race with a column shifter? I'm running 11.20's at 117mph with an unmodified column but I sometimes shift from 1 - 3 or worse, 2 to neutral. I know I can use a floor shifter but that will kill the cars granny good looks ( ie. sleeeper). I thought about a reverse pattern valve body but that really only keeps me out of neutral and makes daily driving less enjoyable. Yes, I want it all!

I'm a little surprised they let you rce with no positive reverse lock out. The reverse valve body is about all you can do, I would bite the bullit and switch to a floor shifter.
