I recently purchased a 1972 concours wagon. I am restoring it. The dual tailgate will not open either direction. The electric window is working fine. I have oiled every I can see. Any help?

hi, did you try lifting both latches at the same time. i had one that would only open that way. of course when i did that the tailgate was only being held on by the one corner but then i could shove the bottom right corner back in place and lay the gate down. take the inner pannel off and you might find like mine, one of the latch clips had come off of one of the metal rods by the latch on the right side. graemlins/waving.gif

When I got mine it wouldn't open down only out.After oiling everything I finally got it to go down.It was merely STUCK.I guess it hadn't been used down for so long it was "froze" up.

Maybe your latches aren't releasing.Have to take the inner panel off and look inside to see what going on. :confused:
