Does anyone know around what production number the SS396 marker lamp bezel was stoped being produced.My prod # is 3,083.Mine was made to look like a malibu so most of that stuff was gone when i got it.

I thought they had two different SS396 marker lamp bezels in '68. One just had "396" and the other had "SS 396". My factory SS 396 four speed car had only "396" on the bezel. I couldn't tell you the production number though. I sold it in 1985.

As far as i know they dont reproduce them anymore. i havnt found them in any chevelle book,and i havnt heard of anyone still making them.I just bought a pair for $75 in real good cond.
Let me know if you find any info.

I can't give you an exact date but from what I have read most of the cars were early cars like before Dec 67? That is just a guess on my part. I was able to get a couple pairs of NOS inserts from Dick at True Connections in Riverside CA last year. Now if I can only get some new bezels machined to accept the insert ......
BTW my car was a SEP 67 build in Baltimore and had the "SS396s". Another 68 (L78) Fremont built car I had was a March 68 build and did not have them. I am not sure if that car had the original sheet metal on the front though. When I get home I will double check VINs for another 68 I owned that was pretty much original and did not have them.
